The idea for this painting came to me as I watched the rain roll in over the sea towards St Ives harbour; you can often see the weather change quickly from the Cornish cliffs. I chose to use shades of grey with black and white to create an atmosphere, using layers of oil paint over charcoal to add subtle detail and texture but emitting the harsh line of the horizon blurred from the incoming downpour. This painting is signed on the back and is ready to frame.
